I know, I know today I should be posting my "Blue" post. But my scanner is being wonky and I am not going to subject you to photographs taken with a flash of my journal pages. So, promise to have that up later in the week.
I've been surfing a few blogs and noticing a nice trend of "joy" posts. Now, these are truly off the cuff "joy" posts; random little spots of surprise that bring me, well, just plain old joy.
- Turquoise. I have a paint can waiting to go on the front door. Just says "beach".

- Independent coffee places. When I go anywhere, that's all I want to find first. I am relaxed, excited, at peace, creative, and buzzed whilst sitting at a butcher block table with a paper cup and a book.

- Ordering books. There I said it. No, I don't take advantage of the inter-library loans. No, I don't read all of them. Sometimes I just like to amass a collection, say of Angela Thirkell. Sometimes I don't even realize I've done that. I will read them all. Someday. Thrills me no end.

- Illustrated books. I do restrain myself now and then but I just find them incredibly satisfying. And motivational to get my act in gear.
- Lemon curd on very thin chocolate wafers.
- Olives in a plastic container in the office refrigerator. Seems like such a decadent, private delight to walk into the grungy office lunchroom, open the sticky-handled refrigerator, find my insulated bag, and grab a handful of oily, briny purple, green, and black olives. Like having a martini at work without the liquor.

- Scarves. Striped scarves in particular. Starting to rival the books. I never have the right color. I often plan my outfit around the scarf. Is that crazy?

- The winter sea; snow at the beach; stormy breakers; moody, grey, low sky days near the ocean; mermaids but not Disney ones.

- Illustrators and illustrations. What I would be if I could. Especially those of gray and green and navy strange and odd portraits of old timely sailors and tattooed men and women.

- Dawes, always and forever, and especially when I need the release of crying in the car on the way home from work. You all do that once in awhile, right? No?

- Wicker chair, ottoman, place by the fire. Have to fight Mr. Pom for it, but I usually win.

- Mercury glass acorns of all sizes. Under cloches.

- Silk hand-dyed ribbons from a little etsy shop, Colors called Dove's Nest, Sugar Grape, Haunted Woods, Black Magic, Gypsy Charms, Celery Blush.

- ANY FORM OF CHALK HAND LETTERING. Trying to teach myself. Completely obsessed. Must have been a sign painter in another life.

- Letterpress. Just about anything looking like vintage letterpress, on juicy colors in gold are especially nice.

- Cardstock ovals and circles and scalloped edges and tags and tiny envelopes and small vellum envelopes and tiny things with numbers or letters.

- Black on tan
li>Kraft paper with gouache, especially white.

- Boatneck tops with 3/4 sleeves.

- POLKA DOTS on everything
- POLKA DOT MAC - NAVY WITH WHITE DOTS

- The word "Mac" - I'm putting on my mac and wellies cause it's pouring buckets.

- Knife-pleated skirts for spring in navy, tan, and pink with black

- Pink chevron rugs, drapes, or pillows

- Navy stripes - and pink and navy - oh my!
- Esse Spring Green nailpolish

- Fiddles
