New Art Retreat!
April 30, 2007
A group of very talented artists are putting together a new art retreat. The exciting thing about this four day retreat is that it is going to be in Cromwell, Connecticut. Yes, the northeast is finally getting the art retreat that it deserves!
Of course, the retreat is open to anyone who lives anywhere all over the world and is interested in spending four days with like-minded artists that paint, sew, bead, cut, embellish, stamp, transfer, draw, bind, and whatever else you can think of.
The retreat is officially called Artfest to Nurture the Soul and it will be held on October 18 - 21st at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. And here's the most exciting part - for me again - I will be teaching two classes there! The first class is a 2 day class on Friday and Saturday, called "Roots and Wings: Creating Your Own Personal Mythology". Open to all experience levels, I'll be teaching about working from photos to create painted portraits that combine collage, embellishment, and ephemera. Check out the link to see some examples of what I'll be doing. On Sunday, I'll be teaching a really fun, one day travel journaling class, "Spirit of the Day Cards", that explores all sorts of different ways to record your journey without carrying around a heavy journal and big palette of paints. The point is to get your out there, using minimal tools to note what you see and then using your leisure time to develop your notes and photos and create beautiful impressions of your travels.
There are many other cool, national teachers like Melody Johnson, so please head over and check out all the classes. I'm very psyched to promote and support art retreats in the northeast. I love to travel, but I just don't have the time or the money to fly all over the country and take advantage of the amazing classes and festivals out there. This a chance to build a national, first rate retreat that will be centered in this part of the country. I know I'm not alone in my enthusiasm!
