Purl Soho

I don't know why it took me so many years to visit Purl Soho. One of the reasons may be that it has very inconspicuous signage, so it is easy to pass by, as Kathy and I found out when we wandered up and down the street looking for the right number and turned around only to realize that we'd been standing in front of it all along.

It's an adorable space, but on a Saturday afternoon it is crowded and jammed with would be knitters and quilter-types, so if you can, visit on a weekday morning.

It was the perfect place to visit, however, on yet another chilly longing-for-spring day in Manhattan. Look at the color! The variety! The textures!

Where else would you find luscious cotton ribbon?

Or so many colors of wool felt?

I you are longing for green  this cold, wet  spring, they have more shades than you can imagine exist.

It almost made me start knitting again.

And started me reconsidering felting my own roving....

Making my own linen placemats.

Or even going back to doll making.

And beginning to  embroider once more.

And don't even get me started on how much I wanted to make that adorable little felt bunny!

Instead, I did what I do best: bought some gorgeous fabric (Liberty Lawn, cheerio!)

And gorgeous thread.

Someday I may make something wtih it all; or I just stroke it everytime I pass by it and daydream about babybibs and aprons, valances and placemats, blouses and quilts, totes and linen napkins.

A girl's gotta dream!
